Personally, I think film production people are quite happy to get paid anywhere from 20-200k for a film depending on your role. It’s a pretty decent living if your pushing 5+ movies a year. Once you start getting the big bucks you start becoming a celebrity and a media whore. Then you have zero privacy and you start using drugs and become those wacko celebrities that take a major nose dive and everyone knows about it. They are all quite happy to be in the background getting paid pretty good dollars to do what they do best.
As well, if you think about it: There are 100s of production people on set there are maybe only a dozen actors in a movie. The demand for a high-quality actor is far more in demand than a best boy or a gaffer which are all waiting for the opportunity to work on a Hollywood film.

Overpaid is an understatement. These so called “actors” do not deserve the vast sums they receive but when millions of people fork over their money, then we have a different story. The movies are not selling a product but an image and that image is the actor. If the people did not go watch these movies, the studios would not have to pay these people $20-30 million or whatever they get.
It is a tragedy when one person saves lives and goes into burning homes, while making a fraction of what a these Hollywood folks makes for standing around on a set. If making a movie is work then I give up on life…

there are plenty of unknown actors out there who are way more talented then these goof stars who would be happy with a sliver of the money that these big time stars get. but when it comes down to it the only reason why these people get paid the big bucks is because people want to see there faces. if nobody cared about johhny depp johnny depp wouldnt get paid what he does. so if there is anyone to blame it is society.

It’s a simple demand and supply formula, like every economic concept. Jobs that are in higher demand pay more.
There’s high demand for celebrities and movie actors, because people like watching movies with famous people. There’s also very low supply, because the people who control who becomes a huge actor and who doesn’t don’t like putting too many new faces in and risk money. Therefore, they have to be paid a lot.
Whether it’s right or wrong, I can’t tell, because I’ve never been in their shoes (there’s still time though!) and since some of them are nice enough to donate money, whether directly or by adopting kids from poor countries, there’s some good in it I guess.
