I’m starting a new recent movies discussion. The old one got too long to scroll down.
So basically, if there are any new movies coming you’re excited about, share your thoughts. If you’ve seen a good/bad movie and would like discuss is, post a comment. Anything else on your mind? Bring it on too, we’re not picky.
I’ll start (like everyone would expect me to) with Watchmen. I’ve seen it last weekend on IMAX. It was awesome. It’s much more violent, dark, and inappropriate to younger audiences than regular superhero movies. It’s got some good action scenes like you’d expect from Snyder and the few changes in plot actually contribute more than they do harm. The acting was fairly well done, especially Jackie Earle Haley and Billy Crudup, who’s becoming one of my favourite actors after this and Dedication.
But, in spite of that, I felt like I was short-changed. It’s probably because I read the novel and knew exactly what was going to happen, so it wasn’t as exciting (so watch the movie first if you can!). That said, it may be very easy to follow if you’ve never read the book or some review with a short recap. It’s impossible to pack that much story into 2:45 hours, so you can’t blame Snyder, and overall it does justice to the novel and the hype. But it’s not Dark Knight.
