A lot of hollywood stars are adopting children from third world countries, is this good or bad? (Discussion)

It’s bad because the hollywood stars are using them as “fashion accessories” to promote their career and get in the tabloids. When those kids grow up with names like Apple and Shiloh, or whatever the poor kid’s name is, they are going to become screwed up kids, with drug problems.

I think it’s great. Kids need a warm home. Money helps, too.

In my opinion, it’s not the question of whether it’s right or wrong. Rather, it’s about whether it’s needed. And yes it is needed. All these celebrities earn huge six- figure salaries, a huge sum of which is esentially spent on themselves. Picture this- If Angelina adopts an underpriveleged kid and spends a considerable amt. on his education/clothing/food ta da da …INSTEAD of maybe spending all of it on a pair of (hugely overpriced) Manolo Blahniks, then i see no harm in it . And it’s not jst about the money – that child is getting a sense of security (even if it comes with an emotional baggage of knowing thats s/he is adopted).. its a small price to pay. But if the child is resilient enuf he can grow up to be a real asset for the society – after all… it’s survival of the fittest.

Just because they’re adopting children doesn’t mean they’re good parents – although considering how much money they make, they can probably afford to have a good nannies which will raise them much better.

I think it’s been pretty obvious that cele-bratty children have grown up with a sense of privilege and entitlement* and end up having a lot of problems, but I think it will be really interesting to see how this new wave of celebrity adopted children grow up and if their parents take the time to educate them about their home countries.
